Job Opening in Delaware - Physician - Wound Care - Full-time

PHYSICIAN - WOUND CARE (FT)

Position located in Lewes, DE

FT; Shift: Flexible-hours/shifts may vary depending on department needs

Summary:
Acts as Medical Director for Wound Healing and HBOT program as well as Diabetes Management program. Provides and coordinates routine and follow-up health care within the scope of practice. Manages care given to Beebe Medical Center clients during outpatient clinic visits and supervises Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments. Functions within approved scope and credentials as approved by Beebe Medical Center policies. Follow(s) established care standards, procedures, guidelines and protocols and gives specific patient care directions to patients, families, nursing and other staff when appropriate.

Responsibilities:

 

Medical Director duties. Serves on Advisory Committee established at the program. Reviews records and reports of patient service to promote the quality of patient care. Attends regular medical staff meetings, and represents the program at such meetings. Provides oversight and guidance for policies and procedures established for the program. Acts as an intermediary on issues with other physicians and clinicians at the hospital. Assists the director with resolution of issues affecting the program. Reviews and evaluates quality data including patient satisfaction survey results, outcomes data, process improvement plans, and department productivity data. Assists with ongoing quality improvement. Supports hyperbaric oxygen safety measures. Attends wound care and hyperbaric training programs and seminars at the request of the Director. Attends monthly wound care / hyperbaric staff meetings. Performs competency testing on physicians/staff who operate the hyperbaric chamber. Participates in events for community outreach and education regarding department services. Participates in marketing activities designed to promote program growth.

Provides "direct supervision" for all HBOT treatments. This requires the physician to be present and on the premises of the location and immediately available to furnish assistance and direction throughout the performance of the procedure. The physician will be present in the HBOT center during the ascent and descent portions of the HBO treatment, and will be able to achieve a maximum response time of five minutes to the chamber when not present in the HBO center.

Evaluates patients for appropriate indications for HBOT and for patient ability to undergo HBOT. Establishes HBOT plan of care. Evaluates patient response to treatment and adjusts plan of care accordingly.

Evaluates and treats patients in the wound center for wound, ostomy, and skin care problems. Develops a comprehensive plan of care and performs appropriate wound care treatments. Evaluates patient progress toward desired outcomes. Adjusts plan of care based on patient response.

Documents assessment and care thoroughly and accurately to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Participates in continuing education related to the practice of hyperbaric medicine and wound care.

Acts as a leader to the care team.

Exhibits coaching and counseling skills with patients and clinic staff.

* ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support

* Licensed in the State of Delaware
