Enrollment Eligibility Requirements
Applicants become eligible to enroll in the Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S©) certification program once the following requirements are met:
The intent of these requirements is to ensure that each Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S©) candidate has the necessary and foundational knowledge to carry out the role and responsibilities of a graduated Hyperbaric Certified-Safety (HC-S©) candidate.
- Hold one of the above qualifying credentials.
- Successfully completed an approved primary training course in hyperbaric medicine.
- Completion of a UHMS approved primary training course in hyperbaric medicine is necessary to ensure a minimum standard of education regarding the practice and scope of hyperbaric medicine. Any primary training course that is approved by the UHMS is acceptable.
- To find an approved list of primary hyperbaric training courses please CLICK HERE. Any introductory course approved by the UHMS is acceptable.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a hyperbaric environment after completing an approved basic training course in hyperbaric medicine. (Note: The intent is to ensure that each Candidate has the necessary foundational knowledge.)
- Successfully complete an approved Introduction to the Role of Hyperbaric Safety Director/Coordinator course within 2-years (24 months) of enrollment in the HC-S program.
- After the 2-year window, a candidate will need to retake an approved Introduction to the Role of Hyperbaric Safety Director/Coordinator course, and meet all other training and competency requirements.
